Children's Early Orthodontics

Early orthodontics is about more than getting a head start on straight teeth. While your child is still growing, we have an opportunity to influence how the jaws, teeth, bite, tongue and airway are developing together. When indicated, Phase I treatment may include palatal expansion to help develop a narrow upper jaw and create more room for permanent teeth to erupt. By addressing certain concerns during growth, we can help establish a healthier foundation for future tooth alignment, bite function and facial development. Our approach looks at the whole child.. considering crowding, jaw growth, oral habits, tongue posture and breathing patterns rather than focusing on the teeth alone. The goal isn't simply straighter teeth. It's creating the space and foundation for healthy development.

Straight teeth are beautiful but that's only one benefit of orthodontic treatment. Proper alignment affects how your teeth come together, how biting forces are distributed, how easily you can brush and floss, and how comfortably your smile functions. For children and teens, comprehensive orthodontics can guide the permanent teeth into healthier positions while refining the bite as growth continues. For adults, braces can correct crowding, spacing and bite concerns that may have been present for years or developed over time, causing reoccurring decay, bite discomfort, worn down teeth and more.
